Land Remediation
We at EDGE 5 provide consultancy services on a wide range of strategies and solutions for land regeneration that combine water harvesting and erosion control on difficult terrain. We have the experience and know-how to help remediate eroded rural land or former industrial sites that may be contaminated by previous uses and are thereby harmful to human health.

Trees have social, communal, environmental and economic benefits. We work with clients on the design and placement of trees in landscapes and around settlements to combat erosion and the effects of floods, while suppressing winds and dust. Trees effectively moderate climatic conditions, provide shade, give off oxygen, improve air quality, conserve water and harbour wildlife. In addition, they earn carbon credits.

Environmental Maintenance
The environment requires regular maintenance to prevent natural degradation caused by droughts, heat waves and high winds. EDGE 5 has been maintaining environmental systems for more than 20 years, offsetting the human factors that cause environmental degradation include deforestation, industrialisation and urbanisation.

Water Harvesting
Grey Water Systems
Grey Water Systems and the treatment of polluted water is an important part of our services at EDGE5. The grey water that leaves the home with the sewage could save households tens of thousands of litres of drinking quality water a year. It is estimated that around 60 per cent of the average household’s wastewater could be recycled as grey water.

Waterwise Systems
The need to harvest and store water for human consumption and food production is crucial. Up to 88 per cent of rain that falls runs off the landscape. EDGE 5’s simple earthwork strategies slow down this wastage and harvest overland water flow. We offer expert consultation on the storage of water in dams, tanks and in the ground.

Erosion Control
By observing and reading landscapes, we at EDGE 5 have the strategies to store water and conserve water in dams, swales, tree systems and underground. This can be achieved through the use of earthworks which can control erosion effectively by modifying the local landscape.

Dust Suppression
Wind directions and surface conditions are major elements in the production of dust. We design systems using trees and earthworks to reduce winds and dust loads.

With our windbreak designs and correct selection of tree species, we are able to modify the effect of local winds on sites of all sorts, modifying their effects on the landscape and reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling on the built environment.
